Call for applications in a creative writing workshop to take place in Abuja; deadline is February 28

This call is for interested participants aged between 14 and 21. Exodus4Art, a literary organization, will be holding a creative writing workshop (prose fiction) in Abuja from April 8 to April 12. The workshop is in memory of Yasmin el-Rufai, the late daughter of the former Honourable Minister of the FCT, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai and his wife, Hadiza. Young Yasmin departed from this world in November, 2011 in London, and the workshop has the objective of keeping her memory alive, by adding value to the lives of the younger generation.

The workshop will take the form of a class. Participants will be assigned a wide range of reading exercises, as well as daily writing exercises. The aim of the workshop is to improve the craft of writers. Participation is limited only to those who apply and are accepted. For the simple reason that the workshop makes no provision for boarding facilities this year, participants are expected to be residents of the FCT, although no one - Nigerians or other nationalities residing in Nigeria who apply and are successful - will be excluded.

All materials must be pasted in the body of the e-mail. No attachments, please. Deadline for submission is February 28, 2013. Only those accepted to the workshop will be notified by March 18, 2013. A literary evening to round off the workshop, open to the public, will hold on Saturday April 13, 2013.
