International Women's Day 2012 - in Abuja

Women from different countries trooped to the Dunes on Friday, the 9th of March, to celebrate this year's International Women's Day here in Abuja.

The event started off with welcome drinks, followed by a short talk by the guest speakers, then dinner and dancing till midnight.

The guest speakers were: 

Sarah Mkeryi Amahson - Gender, Communication and Social Development expert with over 10 years experience in inclusive programming to reduce women’s vulnerability caused by extreme poverty and ignorance.

Ade Mamonyane Lekoetje - one of the successful African women and one of the few women Country Directors in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Aisha Yakubu Bako - has worked for several key NGOs on advancing women, women’s rights and women’s agenda in politics, in business and in education.

In observation of the International Women's Day this year, there will be an event tagged Celebrating Womanhood, taking place on  Friday, March 9, 2012, at 7pm.

Dress code: Glamorous (Ladies only)

Ticket: 5000 naira (limited tickets)  includes finger food, non-alcoholic drinks, music, dancing, karaoke and networking ( the bar will serve alcoholic beverages at discounted prices)

Abuja International Women's Club: Cookie Exchange and Christmas Bazaar 2011

The Abuja International Women’s Club (AIWC) is organizing a COOKIE EXCHANGE AND CHRISTMAS BAZAAR on Thursday, 15th December 2011 at 10am, in Asokoro. Abuja International Women’s Club is a non-political, non-religious, non- profit making organisation established for women from the international and local community residing in and around Abuja. The main purpose of the club is to promote friendship and understanding amongst women of diverse nationalities by organising social, recreational and humanitarian activities. How to Become a Member 

Ladies from all nations, including Nigeria, who are living in Abuja can be a member of Abuja International Women’s Club. For information, send an e-mail to abujaiwc@yahoo.com. You can become a member by joining one of their social events where you put down your name, address, phone-number and e-mail-address and pay the membership fee which is Naira 5,000 for one year. (When you join from January 1 you pay Naira 3,000 for the rest of the year.)
