In Lagos: The Jazzhole presents Ikenga, an Afro Funk Session

The JAZZHOLE (located at 108, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos) presents IKENGA: AN AFRO-FUNK SESSION on Sunday, 22nd September 2013. Doors open at 5pm while stage performance begins at 6pm. Gate fee is N3,500.

From the organizers:
Afro-Funk became the definitive sound of urban Nigeria in the late 60’s through the 70’s up until the early 80’s. Jazzhole’s first gig of the season celebrates those heady days of high energy, deep pulsating bass-lines, hypnotic guitar line and the feel-good spirit of the oil boom 70s, the sound of a nation energised by new-found prosperity while re-engaging with indigenous African rhythms.
The evening will show case both IKENGA’s original material and the music of the great legends of Afro-Funk, from Chris Ajilo and the Cubanos, Segun Buknor, The Hykkers, Cyclops, Orlando Julius, The Funkees, Wrinkars Experience, Wings, BLO, Ofege and Monomono to Fela Kuti and his Africa 70 band.
